2026 Watercolor on Monhegan Island: A 5-Day Painting Workshop

  • 8 Lobster Cove Rd Monhegan, ME (map)

5 Days Painting Monhegan Island!

Join me for a unique watercolor workshop on the breathtaking Monhegan Island, a haven for artists and a picturesque fishing community located just 10 miles off the coast of Maine. For over a century, Monhegan has been an inspiration to countless painters, writers, and creatives, and now it’s your turn to experience the magic of this iconic destination through your own brushstrokes.

During our week together we will immerse ourselves in both the natural beauty of the island and the creative process, whether you’re a beginner or experienced watercolor artist. Throughout the workshop, you'll participate in daily demonstrations, open painting sessions, one-on-one feedback, and group critiques—tailored to your personal skill level and creative goals.

Monhegan Island is a car-free island accessed only by boat, with the exception of a handful of vehicles used to transport luggage and cargo to and from the dock. As you walk through its charming village, rocky cliffs, and lush landscapes, you'll be inspired by the island’s rugged beauty and its rich artistic history. The town, with its quaint roads and stunning views, will be the backdrop for our daily demonstrations and morning painting sessions, allowing those who prefer a more accessible option to enjoy all of the instructional offerings.

Each afternoon you’ll have the option to paint in the village, where you can take in the views, dip your toes in the water, and visit local shops, or venture out to explore the island’s more rugged, wilderness areas for inspiration. During open painting time, I will circulate to offer individual guidance and encouragement.

Monhegan Island offers the perfect balance of inspiration, relaxation, and creative growth. Whether you’re painting the rocky shores, the wildflowers and gardens of the island, or the charming village streets, this workshop promises to be a memorable and enriching experience.
